There is another solution you did not mention. Pretend to comply, and pretend to be a follower who really liked your project and will carry on with it. Tails OS, temp emails, and a disposable device can help achieve this matter.

Another very important tip I would give developers is NOT to use their real names on Github or elsewhere. When looking for a job, companies will be more than satisfied with a showcase of your work upon request. A good tactic as well is separating "normal" projects and "sketchy" ones in different accounts.

Finally, mention the existence of Git platforms on non-US-compliant countries such as gitflic.ru (Russia) and gitee.com (China), which will be more than likely to host your code.

Do you know if "accidentally" leaking the source code (if it wasn't open-source already) after a while could make the situation any worse?
